Muslim charities in the UK: finding the right Muslim charity
Hundreds of registered Muslim charities work from the UK. The free public records help you find and compare them.
Where to find a Muslim charity in the UK
On the official register, free. Every registered charity in England and Wales is on the Charity Commission register; search its name, its number or a word such as “Islamic”. Scotland and Northern Ireland keep their own.
You can give sadaqah openly, with every payment shown. Thinking of a charity? Check your charity on DonateOpenly first.
What a Muslim charity’s register page shows
| On the register | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Charity number | That it is registered, and which charity an appeal means |
| Financial history | Income and spending over five years |
| Accounts and annual report | What the work was, and whether they came in on time |
| Trustees | Who is responsible for it |
| Where it operates | The countries it says it works in |
Choosing between UK Muslim charities
- Start with the cause: water, orphans, a mosque, emergency relief.
- Shortlist two or three doing that work.
- Make the six checks on each.
- Compare their accounts over several years.
Rankings beside the register
Independent rankings set the public figures side by side. DonateOpenly compares UK Muslim charities with £5m or more a year in its ranking of Muslim charities, and hundreds more in its A–Z of Muslim charities. Read them with the register, not instead of it.
